| Mission Statement |
| Appropriate and creative architecture through responsible social and environmental practice. |
ACG Architects and Development Planners was formed in September 1993 by Hassan Asmal, Malcolm Campbell and Gita Goven, all of whom are from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. Hassan and Malcolm are currently the sole partners. |
ACG has experienced rapid growth since its inception six years ago and currently ranks as a medium-sized practice with a full time staff complement which has fluctuated between 15 and 30. In addition, it is able to draw on a network of highly skilled architectural, interior design and planning consultants to make specialised inputs within projects. |
ACG is strongly committed to producing quality architecture which is socially and environmentally sensitive and is the outcome of inclusive processes. |
One of our projects, the Hartleyvale Hockey stadium, has received three awards, of which the most notable has been the South African Institute Architects Award for Excellence in 1998. Another distinction was being placed second in the competition for the new Visitors’ Centre at Kirstenbosch. |
A number of our buildings have featured in local publications, with Hartleyvale Hockey Stadium and the Turfhall Softball Stadium receiving coverage in international journals as well. |
All our work is produced using the latest in CAD and three-dimensional graphics packages. |
ACG Architects & Development Planners provides a full range of architectural expertise in low-cost housing and community development projects. We are able to deliver innovative briefs through stakeholder participation which address organisational development and strategic planning requisites in a holistic manner. |
