ACG ARCHITECTS & DEVELOPMENT PLANNERS is a recognised leading practice with offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Maputo.

ACG was established 23 years ago in 1993, by Malcolm Campbell, Hassan Asmal & Gita Goven, and has become one of the leading black owned architectural practices in South Africa, with a BBEEE Level 1 status.

ACG is an established architectural practice with an extensive portfolio of work that ranges from modest affordable housing solutions to complex health facilities, prestigious public buildings, urban design and landscape architecture. ACG strives to consistently produce work of a high standard and is geared towards constantly improving management skills to ensure that high levels of service are offered to clients.

In addition to an established track record of pushing boundaries and finding innovative solutions, the work of ACG is grounded in a strong ‘developmental’ ethos, which involves seeking ways to actively contribute to economic and social development & ensuring measurable growth in terms staff, client and community development.

One of ACG’s architectural projects, the Khayelitsha District Hospital won the SAPOA Innovative Excellence Award for 2012, while the Elliotdale Housing Project won the Govan Mbeki Human Settlements award in the same year. The Hartleyvale Hockey stadium, has received three awards, the most notable being the South African Institute of Architects Award of Excellence in 1998. Another distinction was being placed second in the competition for the New Visitors Centre at Kirstenbosch. The latest achievement for ACG was the completion of a 5 Green Star building, Khayelitsha Shared Services Office Building, in 2015.

A number of ACG’s buildings have featured in local and international publications. ACG has specialised expertise in low cost housing and community development projects. They are able to deliver innovative briefs, through stakeholder participation, which address organisational development and strategic planning prerequisites in an holistic manner.

With ACG, it’s more than just about Architecture. As architects, urban designers and landscape architects, we provide a holistic approach to design ensuring that buildings and spaces are for and about people, while having a positive social and sustainable impact on the Cityscape.
